Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
  • Inform customers of bakery and deli specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines
  • Prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates
  • Properly use kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, and steamers
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
  • Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • Locate products upon customer request and stay current with promotions and ads
  • Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer inquiries
  • Monitor inventory and stocking conditions and note discrepancies
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create an environment making customers feel welcome and appreciated
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed
