Job Requirements

- Previous experience working in bakery, deli, or grocery retail
- Ability to operate kitchen and bakery equipment

- Ability to follow food safety regulations and company procedures

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Job Duties
- Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
- Inform customers of bakery and deli specials
- Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
- Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need
- Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines
- Prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment
- Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates
- Properly use kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, and steamers
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
- Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- Locate products upon customer request and stay current with promotions and ads
- Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer inquiries
- Monitor inventory and stocking conditions and note discrepancies
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
- Promote trust and respect among associates
- Create an environment making customers feel welcome and appreciated
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed
