We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Grocery Clerk specializing in the Bakery and Deli departments. This role is essential to our operation, ensuring that customers receive the highest standard of service and quality products. You will play a key part in preparing bakery and deli items to customer specifications using proper equipment and techniques, delivering fresh products in correct portion sizes to minimize waste. By offering product samples and sharing information on specials, you help customers discover new items and make informed choices, enhancing their overall shopping experience.

As a Grocery Clerk in the Bakery/Deli section, you will be responsible for maintaining all food safety standards and quality assurance protocols. This includes managing inventory, ensuring products are fresh, and keeping temperature logs accurate to guarantee compliance with food safety regulations. Your knowledge of the store layout, merchandise, and promotional activities will enable you to assist customers effectively and promote department items enthusiastically. You will also uphold company values by fostering a positive and inclusive environment that encourages trust, safety, and respect among colleagues.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in bakery or deli work
  • basic math and measuring skills
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • good communication skills
  • willingness to follow food safety protocols
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends

Job Duties

  • Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • offer product samples to customers to help them discover new items
  • inform customers of bakery and deli specials
  • provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • recommend deli or bakery items to customers
  • use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines
  • prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions
