Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
  • Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get desired products
  • Use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines
  • Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • Measure, prepare and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise adequately
  • Check product quality and review sell by dates taking appropriate action
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • Locate products within the store layout when requested by customers
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Respond to questions and make product suggestions
  • Maintain inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product-related questions
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • Practice preventive maintenance and report equipment needing repair
