Job Duties
- Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials
- Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
- Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get desired products
- Use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines
- Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions
- Measure, prepare and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment
- Package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise adequately
- Check product quality and review sell by dates taking appropriate action
- Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- Locate products within the store layout when requested by customers
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- Respond to questions and make product suggestions
- Maintain inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
- Promote trust and respect among associates
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product-related questions
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
- Practice preventive maintenance and report equipment needing repair
