Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Previous retail or food service experience preferred
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy items
Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
Ability to follow food safety and hygiene standards
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures

Job Qualifications

Ability to obtain food handlers permit once employed

Job Duties

Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
Offer product samples to customers to help discover new items
Inform customers of bakery specials
Provide customers with fresh products in the correct portion size to prevent shrink
Recommend bakery items to customers to meet their needs
Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, ovens according to company guidelines
Prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking/baking instructions
Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment
Prepare, package, label, and inventory bakery merchandise
Check product quality and freshness, reviewing 'sell by' dates and taking appropriate action
Use kitchen equipment properly including stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, and robot coupe
Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
Report ordering and shipping discrepancies to department manager
Assist customers in locating products and remain familiar with current and seasonal promotions
Maintain knowledge of bakery products to respond to customer inquiries and provide suggestions
Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies
Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers with accurate temperature logs
Promote trust and respect among associates
Create a welcoming and appreciative environment for customers
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to management
Display a positive attitude and practice preventive maintenance of equipment
Notify management of customer or employee accidents
Report safety risks, illegal activity, including theft or fraud
Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
