Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Prior experience in customer service or bakery is a plus
Must be at least 18 years old
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Must obtain and maintain a current food handlers permit as required
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
Offer product samples to customers to help them discover new items or products
Inform customers of bakery specials
Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
Recommend bakery items ensuring customers get the products they want and need
Use all bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to company guidelines
Prepare foods according to temperature logs and follow cooking/baking instructions
Measure, prepare and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment
Package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
Properly use kitchen equipment such as stove, scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe
Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to department manager
Locate products for customers based on store layout
Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
Maintain product knowledge and respond to customer questions
Monitor inventory and stocking conditions noting discrepancies
Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers with maintained logs
Promote trust and respect among associates
Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product questions
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
Display a positive attitude
Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed
Notify management of customer or employee accidents
Report safety risks, illegal activity including robbery, theft or fraud
