Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to obtain food handler's permit after employment
  • Previous experience in food service or retail preferred but not required
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Commitment to following food safety and company policies
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new products
  • Inform customers of bakery specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend bakery items to customers
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to company guidelines
  • Prepare food according to temperature logs and follow cooking/baking instructions
  • Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • Check product quality and review sell-by dates
  • Properly use kitchen equipment including stove, fryer, steamer, and computerized scale
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies
  • Locate products for customers within the store
  • Monitor inventory and stocking conditions
  • Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and log them
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers and answer product questions
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • Display a positive attitude
  • Perform preventive maintenance and report repair needs
  • Notify management of accidents and illegal activities
