The role of a Bakery Clerk at Kroger involves much more than handling baked goods. As a Bakery Clerk, you will be responsible for preparing bakery items according to customer requests using specialized bakery equipment. This role also demands strict adherence to food safety regulations and maintaining cleanliness in a safe environment to keep both customers and employees healthy and satisfied. You'll be using various bakery tools and equipment such as ovens, refrigerators, mixers, and scales, all while maintaining proper temperature logs and following precise recipe instructions to deliver consistent product quality.

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items
  • Inform customers of bakery specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend bakery items to customers
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to company guidelines
  • Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking/baking instructions
  • Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • Check product quality and review sell by dates
  • Use kitchen equipment like stove, fryer, steamer, and computerized scale
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • Report ordering and shipping discrepancies to department manager
  • Locate products within the store when requested
  • Stay current with ads and promotions
  • Maintain knowledge of products sold in department
  • Monitor inventory and stock conditions
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines
