Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in food service or bakery preferred
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
  • food handler's permit or willingness to obtain one upon employment

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery items according to customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products
  • inform customers of bakery specials
  • provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • recommend bakery items to customers
  • use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to company guidelines
  • prepare foods following cooking and baking instructions and maintain food temperature logs
  • measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates
  • properly use kitchen equipment including stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe
  • label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
  • report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • understand store layout and locate products when requested by customers
  • stay current with seasonal and special ads
  • gain and maintain product knowledge to respond to questions and provide suggestions
  • monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies
  • maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and log temperatures
  • promote trust and respect among associates
  • create a welcoming environment for customers answering product questions
  • adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions and notify management
  • display a positive attitude
  • perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs
