Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
prior experience in bakery or food service preferred
must be able to obtain and maintain food handlers permit
ability to stand for long periods
ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
basic math and communication skills
ability to work in fast-paced environment
strong attention to detail
ability to lift up to 25 pounds
willingness to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines

Job Duties

Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
offer product samples to help customers discover new items
inform customers of bakery specials
provide customers with fresh products with correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
recommend bakery items to customers
use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to guidelines
prepare foods according to temperature logs and follow baking instructions
measure, prepare and mix ingredients using various kitchen utensils and equipment
adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
properly use kitchen equipment including stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer
label, stock and inventory department merchandise
report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to department manager
locate products for customers upon request
stay current with special and seasonal ads
maintain knowledge of products sold in the department
monitor inventory and stocking conditions and note discrepancies
ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained with logs
promote trust and respect among associates
create a welcoming environment for customers answering product questions
adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
display a positive attitude
perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management
report customer or employee accidents
report all safety risks or illegal activities including theft or fraud
perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
