Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in bakery or food service preferred
  • must be able to obtain and maintain food handlers permit
  • ability to stand for long periods
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • basic math and communication skills
  • ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • strong attention to detail
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • willingness to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • offer product samples to help customers discover new items
  • inform customers of bakery specials
  • provide customers with fresh products with correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • recommend bakery items to customers
  • use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to guidelines
  • prepare foods according to temperature logs and follow baking instructions
  • measure, prepare and mix ingredients using various kitchen utensils and equipment
  • adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
  • properly use kitchen equipment including stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer
  • label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to department manager
  • locate products for customers upon request
  • stay current with special and seasonal ads
  • maintain knowledge of products sold in the department
  • monitor inventory and stocking conditions and note discrepancies
  • ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained with logs
  • promote trust and respect among associates
  • create a welcoming environment for customers answering product questions
  • adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • display a positive attitude
  • perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management
  • report customer or employee accidents
  • report all safety risks or illegal activities including theft or fraud
  • perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
