Job Description

Additionally, the role requires hands-on involvement with bakery products including preparing and decorating cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and custom orders like wedding cakes, using proper bakery equipment. The role demands attentiveness to product quality by routinely checking freshness, reviewing sell-by dates, and taking appropriate actions to maintain standards.\n\nBeyond direct customer interaction and product handling, this position includes logistical duties such as labeling, stocking, signing, and inventory management of department merchandise. The staff member will monitor inventory discrepancies and report order or shipping issues to the department manager promptly. An understanding of the store layout and current promotions is essential to assist customers effectively. Adherence to all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations is mandatory, alongside the company's guidelines regarding merchandising, labor control, loss prevention, food safety, and accident reporting. The role also includes a responsibility to maintain a safe environment by following safety protocols, identifying and reporting unsafe conditions, practicing preventive equipment maintenance, and reporting all safety risks or illegal activities including theft or fraud. Job Duties

  • prepare bakery items, including wedding cakes, per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • recommend bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need
  • check product quality to ensure freshness, review sell by dates and take appropriate action
  • use all equipment in bakery such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to company guidelines
  • decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items
  • label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise
  • report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • understand the store layout and locate products when requested by customers
  • stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions and note discrepancies
  • adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations
  • ensure compliance with merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety and engagement rules
  • reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
  • practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repair needs
  • report all safety risks or issues and illegal activity including robbery, theft or fraud
  • notify management of customer or employee accidents
  • perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
