Job Duties
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and appreciated
- answer questions regarding bakery products and store items
- gain and maintain knowledge of bakery products
- offer product samples to customers
- prepare bakery items including wedding cakes using proper bakery equipment
- decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and other baked goods
- label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise
- check product quality and ensure freshness
- review sell-by dates and take appropriate action
- use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens in compliance with company guidelines
- report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions
- adhere to local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations
- ensure compliance with merchandising, customer service, labor controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, and food safety rules
- reinforce and comply with safety programs and procedures
- inspect equipment and notify management of needed repairs
- report safety risks, illegal activity, and accidents
- perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
