Job Duties

  • create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service
  • establish and maintain a safe and clean environment encouraging customers to return
  • assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals
  • monitor established quality assurance standards
  • answer customer questions regarding products sold
  • offer product samples to customers
  • prepare bakery items per customer requests
  • recommend bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction
  • check product quality for freshness and take appropriate action
  • use bakery equipment properly including refrigerators, freezers, and ovens
  • decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items
  • label, stock, sign and inventory department merchandise
  • report ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • locate products requested by customers and stay updated on ads and promotions
  • maintain awareness of inventory and note discrepancies
  • adhere to local, state and federal health and civil code regulations
  • comply with merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety and food safety rules
  • reinforce safety by identifying unsafe conditions and notifying management
  • practice preventive equipment maintenance and report needs for repair
  • report safety risks, illegal activities, and accidents
  • perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
