The role involves preparing bakery items based on customer requests, including the use of bakery equipment such as ovens, refrigerators, and freezers. Decorating cakes and other baked goods is a key part of the job, requiring artistic skill and careful attention to detail.

Maintaining product freshness and quality by regularly checking sell-by dates and handling inventory discrepancies is critical. This role also plays an important part in labeling, stocking, signing, and managing inventory within the department. Compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations is non-negotiable, along with adherence to company policies on merchandising, labor control, safety, and loss prevention.

The candidate will also engage with customers by offering product samples and answering any questions regarding products sold throughout the store. A thorough understanding of the store layout is necessary to assist customers promptly and accurately locate desired items. The position involves maintaining awareness of inventory and shelving conditions and reporting any discrepancies or maintenance issues.

Safety and preventive maintenance form core responsibilities, including identifying and addressing unsafe conditions, reporting any illegal activities such as theft or fraud, and notifying management of customer or employee accidents. The role requires a proactive approach to maintaining safety standards and ensuring a customer-friendly atmosphere.
