The bakery associate will be responsible for preparing bakery items such as wedding cakes using appropriate equipment, decorating cakes, pastries, cupcakes, and cookies, and ensuring products meet freshness and quality standards.
Moreover, the role involves knowledgeable customer engagement, including answering questions about bakery and store products, offering samples, and making product recommendations to enhance customer satisfaction. The associate will also be expected to handle product organization, stocking, labeling, and inventory management, as well as report any discrepancies or safety concerns promptly to management. Adherence to local, state, and federal regulations regarding food safety and civil codes is mandatory, alongside following all company policies related to merchandising, labor control, loss prevention, and safety programs.

The ability to communicate effectively and, ideally, possess fluency in a second language for speaking, reading, or writing, will also be advantageous. Job Duties
- Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service
- establish and maintain a safe and clean environment
- assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals
- monitor all established quality assurance standards
- answer questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store
- prepare bakery items including wedding cakes per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
- decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items
- recommend bakery items to customers to meet their needs
- check product quality to ensure freshness, review sell by dates and take appropriate action
- label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise
- report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- understand the store's layout to locate products upon customer request
- maintain an awareness of inventory and stocking conditions noting discrepancies
- adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations
- ensure compliance with merchandising, customer service, labor controls, loss prevention, safety, food safety, and associate engagement rules
- reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
- perform preventive maintenance inspections on equipment and report repair needs
- report all safety risks or illegal activity including robbery, theft or fraud
- notify management of customer or employee accidents
- perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
