Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Prior experience in retail or bakery setting preferred
Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Must comply with all safety and health procedures
Ability to stand for long periods
Ability to lift moderately heavy items
Customer service oriented
Attention to detail and hygiene practices

Job Qualifications

Any retail experience
Any bakery or cake decorating experience
Effective communication skills
Basic math knowledge
Ability to handle stressful situations
Knowledge of local, state and federal health regulations
Demonstrated respect, honesty, integrity, diversity and inclusion in previous roles
Ability to work in a team environment
Willingness to learn and follow company guidelines
Second language skills in speaking, reading or writing are desired

Job Duties

Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product questions and making them feel appreciated
Gain and maintain extensive knowledge of bakery products to suggest and assist customers effectively
Offer product samples to help customers discover new items and prepare bakery requests including wedding cakes using proper equipment
Recommend bakery items to ensure customers obtain the products they want and need
Check product quality regularly for freshness and adhere to product labeling, stocking, and inventory procedures
Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items to high standards
Maintain safety and quality by complying with health regulations and company policies
Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to management
Understand entire store layout to assist customers with locating products
Monitor inventory and stock conditions and note discrepancies
Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs
Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions
Report all safety risks, illegal activities, and accidents to management
