The Bakery Associate position at Price Chopper is an essential role designed to support the bakery operations within the retail environment. This position involves preparing, baking, and merchandising all bakery products under the direct supervision of the bakery manager or first clerk to optimize sales opportunities. The Associate's role is to maintain high standards of customer service by providing fast, friendly, and efficient assistance to all customers. This includes engaging with customers through smiles, eye contact, and polite interactions, ensuring a positive shopping experience.

In addition to baking and preparing delicious goods, the Bakery Associate maintains a clean and sanitized workstation in strict compliance with corporate and state sanitation regulations. This includes familiarization with state and corporate safety standards, control of shrink through adherence to company policies, and regular use of bakery equipment such as ovens and mixers. The position requires handling various physical tasks including lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing for long periods, reflecting the demanding yet rewarding nature of bakery work.

Job Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
Ability to lift up to 50lbs frequently and occasionally up to 100lbs
Ability to stand and walk for 5-8 hours constantly
Ability to push and pull up to 75lbs constantly and up to 2400lbs occasionally
Ability to squat and kneel frequently
Ability to work in hot and cold environments
Willingness to adhere to corporate and state sanitation regulations
Ability to follow safety standards
Availability to work flexible hours

Job Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age
Previous bakery experience is beneficial but not required
Ability to provide friendly and efficient customer service
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred
Ability to operate bakery equipment safely
Good communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

Assist with the bakery operation within the retail store environment to include preparation, baking, merchandising and final presentation of all bakery products
Consistently work to provide fast, friendly, helpful and efficient customer service at all times
Responsible for smiling, making eye contact and thanking customer upon fulfilling customer's request
Maintain a neat, clean and organized work station at all times
Responsible for assisting and/or creating customer special orders (i.e.: cake orders)
Responsible for operating bakery department equipment including but not limited to ovens, mixers, and utensils
Adhere to all corporate and state sanitation regulations in keeping a neat and clean work station
Be familiar with state and corporate safety standards
Control shrink through adherence to related policies and procedures
Perform other related duties as assigned by management and adheres to all company policies and procedures
