The position available is for a Bakery Team Member, a pivotal role within the bakery department that supports all aspects of product handling, merchandising, and customer service. This role involves receiving and preparing bakery products, organizing and maintaining displays, stocking shelves, and ensuring compliance with Whole Foods Market’s high standards of food quality and safety. As a Bakery Team Member, you will represent the company’s commitment to excellence by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members alike. Responsibilities include breaking down deliveries, monitoring product freshness, maintaining back stock, assisting with inventory checks, and supporting promotional sampling activities. You will play an active part in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the bakery area, as well as contributing to sales growth through suggestive selling and effective product presentation. This role requires a team-oriented mindset, a passion for natural foods, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment while upholding Whole Foods Market’s values and store policies.

The position is hourly, with a wage range of $16.00 to $25.40, depending on experience, and includes eligibility for Whole Benefits which encompass store discounts, paid time off, health and wellness support, financial wellness programs, and other team member perks. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Ability to use single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders
  • No prior retail experience required

Job Duties

  • Ensures a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked by front-facing, checking codes, rotating and removing out-of-date products
  • Stocks and cleans shelves, bins, and display areas
  • Monitors and prevents spoilage and communicates waste to buyers, Team Leaders, and shift supervisor
  • Maintains back stock in good order
  • Assists with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing
  • Assists with periodic inventory checks
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follows and complies with established procedures, including health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Immediately reports safety hazards and violations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership
