This specific role is an integral part of the Bakery team, where you will support daily operations by receiving and preparing bakery products, maintaining attractive and fresh displays, and selling products in alignment with Whole Foods Market’s high standards. The position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a vibrant retail environment and are passionate about natural foods and customer service. As a Bakery team member, you will be responsible for ensuring the freshness and quality of products by managing shelving, rotating stock to prevent spoilage, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment following all health regulations and company procedures. This role demands a proactive attitude with an emphasis on teamwork, communication, and excellent service to meet and exceed customer expectations. Whether opening, closing, or during peak hours, you will be expected to contribute actively to store success by engaging with customers and pitching in wherever necessary.

The wage range for this position is $16.00 to $25.40 hourly, commensurate with experience. Both full-time and part-time team members may be eligible for these benefits depending on their work location, length of service, and job type. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing/walking 6-8 hours per 8-hour workday
  • hand use involving single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders
  • no prior retail experience required

Job Duties

  • Ensure a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked by front-facing, checking codes, rotating and removing out-of-date products
  • stock and clean shelves, bins, and display areas
  • monitor and prevent spoilage and communicate waste to buyers, Team Leaders, and shift supervisor
  • maintain back stock in good order
  • assist with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing
  • assist with periodic inventory checks
  • arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques
  • maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follow and comply, or ensure compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintain, or ensure maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • maintain equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards
  • perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • ensure accuracy of signs and pricing
  • immediately report safety hazards and violations
  • perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
