The role of a Bakery Team Member at Whole Foods Market involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities focused on the preparation, counter service, and stocking of bakery products. This position requires a passion for baking artisan breads and pastries along with strong customer service skills. Key duties include producing a variety of baked goods such as breads, doughs, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars. The team member will also decorate and finish cakes and pies while maintaining the highest quality standards. In addition, the position entails performing baking, cooling, wrapping, and labeling of products, ensuring that all items are stocked properly and that dry products are replenished as needed.

Team members will be engaged in developing new recipes and production techniques to introduce seasonal varieties and improve productivity. Training production staff to meet industry standards and planning for special events and holidays are also critical components of this role. A strong emphasis is placed on compliance with health and safety regulations, meticulous cleanliness, and equipment maintenance under Whole Foods Market’s cleanliness and safety standards.

This position requires the ability to work efficiently on the store floor by providing courteous and friendly service to customers and fellow team members. Team Leaders, in particular, are expected to be actively present on the floor, ready to assist wherever necessary and promote store initiatives.

The physical demands of this role include standing or walking up to 6-8 hours per day, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and performing a variety of motions such as bending, twisting, and reaching. Team members should also be comfortable working in varying temperature conditions and using various tools and equipment including knives and electric pallet jacks. Whole Foods Market offers a wage range of $22.00 to $29.73 per hour for this position, commensurate with experience, along with eligibility for their Whole Benefits program. Benefits cover a wide range of support including health and wellness programs, paid time off, financial wellness services, store discounts, and other team member perks. New employees who successfully complete their first 90 days may be eligible for a base rate increase.

Job Duties

  • Produces quality breads and pastries
