The Bakery Team Member role at Whole Foods Market is a vital position focused on the preparation, counter service, and stocking of bakery products. This role includes producing quality breads, pastries, doughs, mixes, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars. Responsibilities extend to decorating and finishing cakes and pies, performing baking, cooling, wrapping, and labeling tasks, as well as maintaining dry product stocks. The role demands creativity and innovation, asking team members to develop new recipes and production techniques to ensure seasonal variety and high productivity. Additionally, team members train production personnel to achieve the highest industry standards and are involved in production planning and forecasting for special events and holidays.

A significant part of the Bakery Team Member's duties involves engaging with customers on the floor, providing excellent customer service, suggestive selling, and promptly addressing customer needs. This position requires adherence to all health, sanitation, and safety regulations, including proper handling and maintenance of equipment to meet cleanliness and safety standards. The role involves performing opening, mid, and closing duties, ensuring accurate signage and pricing, and reporting any safety hazards immediately. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing or walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit, 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit, and greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Produces quality breads and pastries
  • produces doughs, mixes, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars
  • performs baking, cooling, wrapping, and labeling of products
  • stocks dry products
  • develops new recipes and production techniques
  • trains production personnel
  • performs production planning and forecasting for special events and holidays
  • maintains all production modules in the Datapax system
  • provides excellent customer service and models suggestive selling
  • maximizes sales potential through product prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising
  • follows and ensures compliance with health and sanitation regulations
  • maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties
  • reports safety hazards immediately
  • performs other duties as assigned
