The role within Whole Foods Market is integral to the success of its Bakery department. This position involves the preparation, counter service, and stocking of bakery products including artisan breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, pies, and breakfast items. An essential aspect of the role is to uphold the high standards of quality and presentation that define the Whole Foods Market brand. The candidate will be responsible for producing baked goods using innovative recipes and seasonal production techniques while maintaining cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health regulations. The position requires collaboration with team members to ensure a positive shopping experience for customers through friendly and efficient service.

In addition to skilled baking and decorating of cakes and pastries, this role involves training production personnel to meet rigorous industry standards and making informed decisions about production planning and forecasting for special events and holidays. Maintaining production data accuracy in the Datapax system is also required. Team Leaders in this role actively engage with customers on the sales floor, supporting sales and assisting in service areas as needed. The position demands a commitment to adhering to company policies, safe work practices, and fostering a supportive team environment. Ideal candidates will bring a strong work ethic, positive energy, and passion for artisanal baking and natural foods. They must demonstrate excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude. Physical requirements include the ability to handle products and equipment safely, work standing for long periods, and operate heavy machinery when necessary. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures: less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

  • Knowledge of artisan breads and pastries, including cake decorating

Job Duties

  • Produces quality breads and pastries
  • Produces doughs, mixes, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars
  • Performs baking, cooling, wrapping, and labeling of products
  • Stocks dry products
  • Develops new recipes and production techniques to ensure seasonal variance and high productivity
  • Trains production personnel to the highest standards in industry
  • Performs production planning and forecasting for special events and holidays
