This particular role is centered in the Bakery department where the employee will have the responsibility of preparing, decorating, and serving baked goods including breads, cakes, pies, pastries, and cookies. The role encompasses the entire baking process including production planning, recipe development, and maintaining baking product quality that aligns with Whole Foods Market’s high standards. Team Members in this position are expected to provide excellent customer service and ensure a sanitary, safe working environment by adhering to health regulations and company policies. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching motions
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders
  • no prior retail experience required

  • Knowledge of artisan breads and pastries, including cake decorating

Job Duties

  • Produces quality breads and pastries
  • produces doughs, mixes, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars
  • performs baking, cooling, wrapping, and labeling of products
  • stocks dry products
  • develops new recipes and production techniques to ensure seasonal variance and high productivity
  • trains production personnel to the highest standards in industry
  • performs production planning and forecasting for special events and holidays
