The position available is a Bakery Production Associate role, which is integral to the seamless production and preparation of King's Hawaiian bakery items. This role involves preparing frozen pastries based on production schedules for the next day's bake-off, preparing icings, fillings, and other bakery items necessary for final product finishing. A key responsibility includes managing inventory records for various bakery products, ensuring accurate tracking of chiffon cakes, high ratio cakes, cupcakes, and pastries. The associate is also tasked with organizing the walk-in freezer effectively, consolidating trays and maximizing storage space. Maintaining cleanliness and safety in the work area is essential, with duties including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal from the bakery back of house. The role requires strong communication skills to report any shortages or issues with deliveries promptly. Transporting products within the bakery and to refrigerated trucks is also required. This position provides opportunities to participate in training new employees or those transitioning to new roles within the bakery. Adherence to sanitation guidelines and health department regulations is mandatory, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene. The role demands physical stamina for standing, walking, climbing stairs, and lifting weights up to 50 pounds on occasion. The bakery associate must be self-motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team, and prepared to handle task prioritization in a fast-paced environment. This is a dynamic, hands-on role that is essential in supporting King's Hawaiian's reputation for quality and consistency in every baked product. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate
  • Experience in retail or restaurant operations preferred
  • Must be able to work early morning shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime when required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Commitment to workplace safety and sanitation guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • Proficient in English with clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in a retail or restaurant operation preferred
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate
  • Self-motivated with the ability to see what is needed to be done with little direction
  • Able to prioritize tasks with a teamwork focus
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to arrive to work on-time for all assigned shifts including mornings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required
  • Must work early morning shift and have Saturday and Sunday availability
  • Able to stand, walk, climb stairs throughout shift
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds on occasion

Job Duties

  • Prepares frozen pastries per production list for the next morning's bake off
  • Prepares icing, fillings and other bakery items needed for finishing
  • Records inventory of on hand items including chiffons, high ratio cakes, cupcakes, pastries
  • Records inventory arriving items from daily, per orders placed the preceding day
  • Organizes walk in freezer including condensing trays of product within cabinets to maximize space
  • Keeps work area clean, organized, and safe
  • Sweeps, mops, and removes all trash from bakery back of house daily
  • Communicates any shortages from the arriving delivery from Hawaiian Foods
  • Assists with moving product from bakery to refrigerated truck when needed
  • Assists with moving product from upstairs to downstairs
  • Participates in training of new employees or employees who change job classifications
  • Follows all sanitation guidelines as prescribed by the health department
  • Wears slip resistant shoes, uses proper lifting techniques
  • Plans and carries out job assignments without creating hazards to oneself and other employees
  • Ability to train and execute other positions within the bakery when assigned
