Job Description
Artisan Bakers, established in 1992 in Sonoma's renowned wine country, is a prestigious artisan bakery specializing in handcrafted sourdough and traditional breadmaking methods. Over the past three decades, the company has evolved from serving local California restaurants and markets to becoming a nationally recognized artisan bread partner. Artisan Bakers operates with a commitment to authentic craftsmanship, producing high-quality breads that reflect a tradition of human connection and culinary artistry. With the opening of their 60,000-square-foot facility in West Sacramento in 2023, Artisan Bakers has significantly expanded its production capabilities, enabling them to meet increasing demand while maintaining the exceptional quality, efficiency, and reliability their customers expect. The company is proud to support nearly 200 American jobs and uphold strict standards as a USDA Organic, Upcycled, and RSPO certified bakery, emphasizing sustainable baking practices, clean ingredients, and responsible sourcing. Artisan Bakers offers private label baking, research and development, custom formulations, and contract baking solutions tailored to the needs of retailers, club stores, and national foodservice brands across the country.
The Production Associate role is a crucial position within the Artisan Bakers production team, responsible for ensuring that high-quality products are produced in a safe, efficient, and hygienic manner. This role demands a candidate who is not only passionate and committed to the product but also dedicated to personal and team growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to process information quickly to act decisively. The Production Associate reports directly to the production supervisor and collaborates closely with them to meet production goals. Duties include participating actively in the production process, adhering to safety and cleanliness standards, maintaining product quality, and supporting plant efficiency by promptly reporting any mechanical issues. This position involves multitasking within various production areas such as demolding, bread forming, and dough mixing, always following established procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Working at Artisan Bakers requires a positive attitude, honest communication, punctuality, and pride in workmanship. The physical environment includes a large-scale manufacturing plant with temperature fluctuations, and the role requires the ability to stand, bend, and operate for extended periods. Candidates must be able to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted and wear slip-resistant shoes. A high school diploma or GED is required, with a preference for bilingual candidates and those with a BA or BS degree or equivalent experience. Prior experience in large production facilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to solve problems under pressure are essential. Artisan Bakers values continuous learning and offers a work culture deeply rooted in craft, innovation, and team dedication, making this an excellent opportunity for professionals seeking to grow within a respected artisan bakery.
