The Bakery Manager role at Sprouts Farmers Market is a dynamic and rewarding position focused on leading the bakery department to deliver outstanding bakery products and exceptional customer service. This full-time position requires a combination of culinary expertise, managerial skills, and a passion for fostering a collaborative team environment. The Bakery Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the bakery's daily operations, including baking, production, inventory control, merchandising, and budget management. In this role, you will lead your team to produce high-quality baked goods such as cookies, breads, and muffins using proven recipes, while maintaining strict safety, sanitation, and food handling standards.

As the department leader, you will closely monitor product quality and consistency and make strategic decisions that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. You will be required to create appealing displays, execute merchandise rotation, and handle ordering and receiving processes to maximize sales and profitability. Your leadership will extend to recruiting, training, and coaching bakery staff, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering a positive and productive work environment that motivates team members to excel.

Moreover, the Bakery Manager will serve as a key store leader, including acting as a Manager on Duty when necessary and participating in regular store meetings. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 2 years retail grocery experience
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • strong leadership and team management abilities
  • physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
  • food handlers permit required
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to operate baking and warehouse equipment
  • reliable and dependable work ethic

Job Qualifications

  • be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years retail grocery experience
  • dependable and reliable with the ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • possess outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude towards team members and customers
  • have good communication skills and the ability to give and take direction in a team environment
  • able to answer phones and take special orders
  • perform general housekeeping and sanitation duties in the department
  • able to operate knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
  • adhere to all safety, health, and weights and measures regulations
  • possess a Food Handlers permit
  • have working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals

Job Duties

  • manage the daily output baking, production, and display of bakery products
  • supervise and monitor product quality and consistency, track inventory, and manage the bakery's budget
  • evaluate department conditions and operations to determine strengths and areas for improvement
  • develop improved practices and procedures
  • ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
  • responsible for correct ordering, receiving, unloading, and storage
  • execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
  • manage department inventory, in-stocks, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and operational processes
  • plan and order according to company standards to maximize sales and gross profit
  • engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and development discussions
  • attend and participate in in-store meetings
  • recruit, hire and make promotion/transfer decisions
  • address team member concerns confidently
  • take and document corrective actions when needed
  • create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to ensure maximum productivity
  • communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members
  • lead a team to deliver quality products, top service, and an outstanding customer experience
  • serve as a Key Carrier for the store and/or act as Manager on Duty as needed
