Job Description

Zermatt Utah Resort & Spa is a distinguished mountain resort located in Midway, Utah, known for its charming Swiss-inspired architecture and celebrated as a premier destination for both leisure travelers and business groups. Nestled in the picturesque mountain village, this resort has earned a reputation throughout Utah and the Salt Lake City valley for offering exceptional hospitality, unforgettable special events, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that draws guests from around the globe. As the largest employer in Midway, Zermatt Utah Resort & Spa prides itself on fostering a vibrant community environment while providing numerous opportunities for professional growth and career advancement within the hospitality industry.

The Head Baker role at Zermatt Utah Resort & Spa is an extraordinary opportunity to lead and inspire the artisan bakery team in a stunning mountain resort setting. This position is not only about crafting exquisite breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts but also about shaping a key community landmark that serves resort guests, banquet events, fine dining outlets, and local patrons alike. The Head Baker will work in a guest-facing, open kitchen environment, which creates a unique opportunity to engage directly with visitors and elevate their dining experience through both product quality and service excellence.

In this creative leadership role, you will have the freedom to develop innovative recipes, co-design special event desserts in collaboration with Executive Chefs from Banquets and Z's Restaurant, and help establish the bakery as a signature café within the region. You will mentor and train both bakers and baristas, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork. Your creative input will be instrumental in crafting seasonal menus and holiday offerings that reflect the resort’s commitment to quality and community engagement.

This position demands a flexible and dedicated professional willing to oversee early mornings, weekends, and holiday shifts, ensuring the bakery operates seamlessly during peak travel and event seasons. Alongside delivering superior products, you will lead by example in craftsmanship, cleanliness, efficiency, and hospitality. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing schedules, labor costs, inventory, ordering, and vendor relations to maintain operational standards and profitability. As a visible leader, you will represent the bakery in a way that enhances its appeal to locals and makes it a memorable highlight for every resort guest.

Joining Zermatt Utah Resort & Spa as Head Baker means embracing an exciting challenge with ample room for innovation and impact. It offers competitive compensation and resort perks, all within an inspiring natural setting. This role is ideal for a skilled baker and pastry chef with leadership experience who has a passion for mentoring, creativity, and guest interaction and who is eager to make a lasting mark on a beloved community icon.
