The Bakery Manager role at The Fresh Market is a pivotal leadership position within the store's bakery department. As the Bakery Manager, you will take the helm in guiding team members and stewarding all aspects of bakery operations. This includes managing inventory, maintaining pricing integrity, overseeing merchandise presentation, and executing operational processes with precision and attention to detail. The role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for excellence, ensuring the delivery of outstanding bakery products and services to guests.

You will lead a team responsible for preparing, handling, and merchandising a variety of specialty breads, pastry items, and Convenient Meal Solutions throughout the day. This involves coordinating ordering schedules, controlling shrink and damage, and making sure stock rotation standards are rigorously followed. The Bakery Manager will also be responsible for coaching, training, and motivating team members both on-the-job and through The Fresh Market’s internal training platforms. The focus on guest service, safety, and teamwork is paramount.

In this role, guest interaction is critical; you will greet and assist guests proactively with friendly and accurate service, make product recommendations, and accommodate special requests. Your leadership will directly impact the bakery’s operational success and customer satisfaction. The Bakery Manager position requires flexibility to work various shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays. This is a full-time position essential to the store’s daily operations.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum three years of management experience in grocery retail, restaurant, baking, and/or culinary
  • Ability to read and follow merchandising plans and schematics
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including weekends, evenings, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Greet guests and proactively assist them in a friendly manner with accurate and timely service
  • Make recommendations and accommodate guest requests
  • Manage order guides, ordering deadlines, and reduce shrink and damage
  • Properly receive and stock goods following rotation standards when replenishing product levels
  • Handle, slice, and prepare specialty breads, pastry items, and Convenient Meal Solutions throughout the day
  • Direct teams to properly receive, stock, and merchandise goods according to The Fresh Market standards
  • Engage, motivate, coach, and train team members on-the-job and through internal training platforms
