As a Bakery Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operations and success of the bakery department. This full-time position requires an individual with a passion for baking, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to maintain high standards for quality and customer satisfaction. The Bakery Manager is responsible for overseeing the production, presentation, and merchandising of bakery products such as cookies, breads, and muffins. You will ensure that all bakery items exceed quality standards and that safety and sanitation protocols are rigorously followed.

Your role will involve managing a team of bakery associates, providing coaching and development opportunities, and evaluating team performance to ensure continued growth and excellence. You will handle key operational tasks, including inventory management, budget monitoring, and ordering supplies to meet customer demand while maximizing sales and profitability. Partnering closely with store management, you will contribute to recruiting and hiring new team members, managing schedules, and maintaining compliance with company policies.

In addition to leading the bakery team, you will serve as a key carrier or Manager on Duty as needed, demonstrating strong leadership and decision-making abilities. This position requires working in a fast-paced, friendly environment where customer service and operational efficiency are paramount. The ability to adapt to a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays is essential. Job Requirements

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • have a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience
  • be dependable and reliable
  • have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • have outgoing and friendly behavior
  • possess positive attitude towards team members and customers
  • have good communication skills
  • be able to give and take direction
  • be able to answer phones and take special orders
  • perform general housekeeping duties including cleaning and sanitizing work areas
  • be able to operate bakery equipment including knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • be able to stand for up to 3 hours continuously per shift
  • be able to transfer trays and items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • adhere to safety, health, and weights and measures regulations
  • maintain a Food Handlers permit
  • possess knowledge of personnel and financial reports

Job Qualifications

  • be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience
  • be dependable and reliable with ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • have outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards team members and customers
  • possess good communication skills and ability to give and take direction in a team environment
  • be able to answer phones and take special orders
  • perform general housekeeping in the department including cleaning and sanitizing work areas
  • able to operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
  • knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
  • able to stand for up to 3 hours continuously during an 8-hour shift
  • able to transfer trays up to 5 lbs. and items up to 40 lbs. vertically and horizontally as required
  • adhere to all safety, health, and weights and measures regulations
  • achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit
  • possess working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals

Job Duties

  • manage the daily output baking, production, and display of bakery products
  • supervise and monitor product quality and consistency
  • track inventory and manage the bakery's budget
  • evaluate department conditions and operations to determine strengths and areas for improvement
  • ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
  • responsible for correct ordering, receiving, unloading, and storage
  • execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
  • manage department inventory, in-stocks, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and other operational processes to Sprouts standards
  • plan and order according to company standards to maximize sales and gross profit
  • engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions
  • make recommendations on merit increases and complete bi-annual performance reviews
  • attend and participate in in-store meetings
  • recruit, hire and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager
  • exercise independent judgment to address Team Member concerns
  • take and document corrective actions as needed including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination
  • create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency
  • communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members
  • lead a team to deliver the finest quality product, highest level of service, and greatest customer experience
  • serve as a Key Carrier for the store or act as Manager on Duty as needed
