The Bakery Manager manages daily baking and production schedules, product displays, inventory control, and departmental budgeting to uphold company standards. Job Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Minimum of 2 years retail grocery experience
- Ability to work flexible schedule including night, weekends, and holidays
- Outgoing and friendly behavior
- Positive attitude towards team members and customers
- Good communication skills
- Ability to give and take direction
- Able to answer phones and take special orders
- Perform general housekeeping including cleaning and sanitizing work areas
- Ability to operate knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
- Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously for an 8-hour shift
- Ability to transfer trays up to 5 lbs from 7" to 64" for up to 10 hours
- Ability to transfer items up to 40 lbs from 5" to 36" for distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours
- Adhere to safety, health, and regulatory standards
- Maintain a Food Handlers permit
Job Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience
- Have outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards team members and customers
- Have good communication skills
- Ability to give and take direction and participate in a team environment
- Be able to answer phones and take special orders
- Perform general housekeeping in the department including cleaning and sanitizing work areas
- Be able to operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
- Use knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
- Possess a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals
Job Duties
- Manage the daily output baking, production, and display of bakery products
- Supervise and monitor product quality and consistency, track inventory, and manage the bakery's budget
- Evaluate department conditions and operations to determine strengths and areas for improvement
- Develop improved practices and procedures
- Ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
- Responsible for correct ordering, receiving, unloading, and storage
- Execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
- Manage department inventory, in-stocks, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and other operational processes to Sprouts standards
- Plan and order according to company standards to maximize sales and gross profit
- Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions
- Make recommendations on merit increases via performance review process
- Regularly attend and participate at in-store meetings
- Recruit, hire and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager
- Address Team Member concerns confidently
- Take and document corrective actions including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination
- Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency
- Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members
- Lead a team that delivers quality products and excellent customer service
- Serve as a Key Carrier for the store or act as a Manager on Duty as needed
