The position available is Bakery Manager, a critical role that involves overseeing all aspects of the bakery department to ensure that baked goods meet company standards for quality and presentation. The Bakery Manager is responsible for the performance and development of bakery staff and for driving sales and profitability within the department. This role merges leadership, creativity, and operational expertise to maintain a well-managed bakery that consistently delights customers.
In this role, the Bakery Manager handles essential management duties such as interviewing, hiring, training, and developing bakery partners. They also plan and assign work, appraise performance, manage schedules, resolve issues, and maintain a positive working atmosphere. The manager must have a data-driven approach, using sales history and promotional insights to forecast inventory needs and optimize operations while keeping in close communication with upper management on performance metrics including profit and loss, labor, and shrinkage.
Quality control is a paramount responsibility, involving rigorous food safety adherence and product inspection based on aroma, flavor, texture, and appearance standards. The Bakery Manager also participates hands-on in bakery production activities such as preparing, packaging, labeling, catering, and occasional delivery. They creatively decorate baked goods and devise merchandising displays designed to promote products and engage customers, maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting shopping environment.
This position requires advanced operational knowledge, familiarity with scheduling software, inventory management systems, and in-store ordering machines. The Bakery Manager should possess leadership skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. - High school diploma or GED
- two or more years of related experience or equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education
- minimum 18 years of age
- food handler certification
- manager food safety certification
- partners must be 21 years or older to drive for company business
- ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to use precision and non-precision hand tools
- ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment such as bread slicer and commercial oven
- ability to lead and motivate others
- ability to effectively communicate with customers and partners
- must be attentive to potential hazards and place warning signs or devices
- must report potential hazards to supervisor
Job Qualifications

- ability to effectively communicate with customers and partners in written and verbal form
- ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- must be attentive to potential hazards and act accordingly
- must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor
Job Duties
- Carries out management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, and developing partners
- planning, assigning, and directing work
- appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining partners
- scheduling, addressing complaints, and resolving problems
- reviews historical data to predict future sales from ads and promotions
- manages inventory using item management processes to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels
- reviews profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data
- provides verbal or written summary to upper management regarding any related issues
- checks inventory on trucks, unloads products, and ensures accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and associated paperwork
- accountable for bakery sales, labor, and meeting financial and profitability objectives
- enforces quality control and food safety standards and ensures dated products are stocked and rotated properly
- makes fine judgements about aroma, flavor, taste, texture, and color to inspect baked goods for quality
- uses initiative and standard procedures to plan and determine work priorities for self and department personnel based on logical sequence of events, tasks, or volume and inventory forecasts
- helps with all aspects of bakery production including preparing, packaging, labeling, catering, and occasional delivery of baked goods
- uses creativity to decorate baked goods, promote themes, and merchandise product through appealing displays
- maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures
- provides friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions and taking orders by phone and in person
