The Bakery Lead role at BJ's Wholesale Club is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing bakery production and operational standards within the bakery department. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of bakery or food production experience
  • Valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly, occasional heavier lifting with assistance
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions
  • Knowledge of bakery allergens and cleaning agents
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to follow company policies and procedures
  • Must maintain required certifications
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in bakery operations, retail, or food production
  • Strong knowledge of bakery production processes and food safety guidelines
  • Ability to analyze data and make process improvements
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and email
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must maintain all training and required certifications

Job Duties

  • Lead bakery department operations
  • Manage inventory proactively
  • Demonstrate full proficiency in bakery preparation and merchandising
  • Ensure accurate item labeling and compliance
  • Analyze production and sales data
  • Maintain sanitation and safety compliance
  • Report operational concerns
  • Execute proper product rotation using FIFO
  • Conduct quality and date checks
  • Execute seasonal promotion and merchandising initiatives
  • Support club-wide initiatives such as inventory audits and shrink control
  • Perform routine case inspections
  • Assist with receiving and inspection of shipments
  • Support inventory audit and reconciliation efforts
  • Monitor product quality and freshness
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
