The role of Bakery Lead at BJ's Wholesale Club is a key operational position within the bakery department. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification
  • 2+ years of bakery operations or relevant food production experience
  • Ability to stand and move frequently on hard surfaces
  • Capability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and heavier with assistance
  • Comfort with exposure to temperature variations from ovens, freezers, and refrigeration units
  • Willingness to handle potential exposure to cleaning agents and bakery-related allergens

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in bakery operations, retail, or food production
  • Strong knowledge of bakery production processes and food safety guidelines
  • Ability to analyze data and implement process improvements
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Email
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must maintain all training and required certifications

Job Duties

  • Lead bakery department operations and maintain production standards
  • Manage inventory proactively to ensure product availability
  • Execute operational functions including baking and merchandising bakery items
  • Ensure accurate item pricing and labeling
  • Track and analyze production, sales, waste, and shrink data for improvements
  • Maintain compliance with sanitation and safety regulations including ServSafe standards
  • Report operational concerns such as equipment issues or stock shortages
  • Apply FIFO rotation procedures to reduce waste
  • Conduct quality and date checks on bakery products
  • Execute seasonal promotions and merchandising initiatives
  • Support club-wide initiatives including inventory audits and shrink control
  • Conduct routine inspections of bakery cases and coolers
  • Assist with receiving and inspecting shipments
  • Support inventory audit and reconciliation efforts
  • Monitor product freshness and quality
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
