The position of Bakery Head Line Cook within the Campus Dining and Hospitality group is a vital leadership role focused on overseeing operations in a busy bakery production area. The role involves directing and mentoring a team of Campus Dining Attendants and student workers, ensuring that all food preparation aligns with standardized recipes, quality benchmarks, and stringent food safety protocols. Reporting to culinary leadership, the Bakery Head Line Cook is responsible for the setup and breakdown of production and service areas, managing break schedules, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in back-of-house operations. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a collaborative attitude to foster a positive and efficient work environment.

The Bakery Head Line Cook will also play an essential role in quality assurance by adhering to allergen labeling protocols and participating in the food safety response team. This position requires the ability to respond promptly to any food safety concerns and to train new staff, empowering team members to contribute effectively within their roles. Job Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute
  • State Food Safety certified or the ability to obtain State Food Safety certification within 6 months of hire
  • Must possess appropriate State Food Safety certification for the duration of employment
  • Ability to work in a team driven environment

Job Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned

  • Experience supervising or training staff
  • Ability to work in a team-driven environment
  • Previous experience working in a bakery setting is a plus

Job Duties

  • Prepare, assemble, and delegate food preparation tasks
  • Delegate and assist with the setup and breakdown of production and service areas
  • Understand and use a variety of equipment and service standards as appropriate
  • Follow and enforce set food safety protocol in all areas of oversight
  • Ensure cleanliness and quality of back-of-house service areas
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist with customer needs and inquiries
  • Train new staff members and hold others accountable following progressive coaching process
