Job Description
The hiring establishment is a prominent retail grocery store known for its dedication to delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer service to its community. This company prides itself on fostering a supportive work environment where employees, referred to as Partners, are valued and encouraged to grow their skills and advance their careers. As part of a reputable and well-established retail grocery chain, the company emphasizes strong leadership within its departments to ensure smooth operations and superior customer experiences. This commitment is reflected in their approach to managing and supporting their Bakery department, where fresh, delicious bakery items play a critical role in satisfying customer needs and enhancing the store’s overall appeal.
The Bakery Manager position is available as a full-time leadership role with competitive salary compensation reflective of the candidate’s experience and skill set. This role entails the comprehensive responsibility for the strategy, coordination, and operations of the Bakery department. The Bakery Manager will supervise a team of Partners, ensuring that all team members are effectively trained, evaluated, and held accountable for delivering excellent bakery products and outstanding customer service. The role demands a hands-on leadership style where the manager actively participates in decision-making, scheduling, ordering, inventory control, and workflow optimization.
In this role, you will develop and implement production plans to ensure correct quantities of bakery products meet customer demand daily and maintain product quality across the board. You will monitor inventory and waste among bakery goods, using analytical tools such as the Bakery Scorecard to drive performance improvements and efficiency. The ability to balance quality, waste control, and stock levels to maximize profitability is critical. Sales growth will be encouraged through effective merchandising programs and variety in product offerings, ensuring the department meets its volume and revenue goals while maintaining compliance with standard operating procedures.
Food safety and sanitation are paramount in this role. The Bakery Manager will ensure stringent adherence to all federal, state, and company policies regarding food safety and hygiene standards. The manager will oversee sanitation of equipment and maintain a clean bakery environment conducive to health and safety regulations. The role requires vigilance in training and coaching team members on these standards, fostering a culture where compliance and accountability are priorities.
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills, combined with a keen analytical mind to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Experience in retail bakery management or a related field is preferred, accompanied by certifications such as Certified Bakery Expert or Retail Bakery Association Master Baker certification. The role also demands physical stamina given the fast-paced retail environment, involving standing, lifting, and maneuvering around bakery equipment in varying temperature conditions.
Working as a Bakery Manager offers the opportunity to lead a vital department within a successful retail organization, playing a key role in customer satisfaction and operational excellence. This position appeals to motivated individuals seeking to build a rewarding management career while making a tangible impact in a dynamic retail setting.
