The role of Bakery Assistant Team Leader is a key position within the retail environment of Whole Foods Market. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing or walking for 6 to 8 hours during an 8-hour workday
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • ability to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures below freezing, refrigeration temperatures, and temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Qualifications

  • 12 plus months retail experience
  • extensive knowledge of bakery team procedures and policies
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills
  • capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner
  • thorough product knowledge
  • advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures
  • proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory
  • demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate
  • proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications

Job Duties

  • Supervises and delegates tasks to bakery team members
  • works with bakery trainer to train team members to build and sustain a high-performance team
  • assists in training new team members using learning checklists and training materials
  • keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated
  • opens and closes department according to established procedures
  • ensures all necessary breaks are given
  • communicates team concerns to the team leader and associate team leader
  • sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
  • fosters a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
  • maintains awareness of customer flows and directs team members to satisfy and delight customers
  • selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels team members
  • provides timely and thorough performance evaluations
  • consistently communicates and models Whole Foods Market vision and goals
