The Bakery/Coffee Shop Team Member role at Metropolitan Market offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about customer service, quality food products, and dynamic work environments. Those hired into this role are central in creating an inviting and efficient bakery and coffee shop experience. Team members engage directly with customers by quickly fulfilling orders, sharing product knowledge about bakery items and coffee offerings, and maintaining the cleanliness and availability of self-serve areas. This position requires a fast-paced multitasker who can balance routine operational responsibilities with the immediate needs of guests. Duties include maintaining food display areas, ensuring fresh product stock, providing customized guest service, and supporting promotional events and merchandising efforts. Success in this role involves a mix of interpersonal skills, culinary understanding, and a passion for food safety and quality standards.   • ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and produce quality output within deadlines
  • excellent time management and organizational skills
  • strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • comprehensive knowledge of food and coffee including ingredients, applications, pronunciations and culinary skills
  • knowledge of food safety and HACCP/Department of Health guidelines
  • ideally one year of experience preparing coffee drinks in a high-volume coffee shop
  • ideally one year of bakery industry experience

  • actively work to remain knowledgeable and current in areas of responsibility, including product knowledge

  • maintain product inventory at a level that promotes effective sales merchandising and maximizes sales potential
  • assist Leadership Team with product and supply ordering
