This role, Bakery Team Member, is an integral part of the BJ's Wholesale Club bakery department. The position involves proofing and baking all unfinished bakery goods while following product handling guidelines to ensure quality and safety. Team members unpack bakery products from the freezer and display appropriate amounts based on production charts. They maintain cleaning and safety standards throughout the bakery to uphold hygiene and operational excellence. This role requires attention to detail in baking, displaying, rotating, and packaging bakery products such as breads, pies, cakes, muffins, and pastries. The bakery team member also handles special orders, decorates baked goods, and manages product labeling and pricing. Regular communication with members to answer questions, take special orders, and provide excellent service is essential.

At least 18 years of age
experience working in a bakery or customer service oriented environment preferred
knowledge of bakery products preferred

Job Duties

Answer questions and recommend bakery items
answer member calls and take special orders
proof and bake all unfinished bakery goods by following product handling information
unpack bakery goods and display proper amounts based on production charts
package freshly baked goods including cookies, pastries, muffins, breads, pies, cakes
decorate special order or case products
rotate and store bakery products following food safety and freshness policies
receive, inspect, and store bakery shipments
ensure all products meet quality standards and check for out-of-date items
generate labels and price tickets
clean and sanitize equipment and food surfaces
operate bakery equipment following safety procedures
maintain all club policies and procedures
perform other duties as assigned including working in other departments
ensure regular, predictable, full attendance
