The Bakery Team Member role at BJ's Wholesale Club is an integral position focused on delivering fresh, high-quality baked goods to customers. This role involves proofing and baking a wide variety of bakery products, such as cookies, muffins, breads, cakes, and pies, following established production charts and safety guidelines. The team member will also handle the display, packaging, and special decorating of bakery items while ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of bakery equipment and work areas is a key responsibility, along with managing inventory through the receipt, inspection, and rotation of bakery products. Working closely with other team members, the Bakery Team Member supports the club’s policies and strives to create a safe and positive environment for both members and colleagues. Job Requirements

At least 18 years of age
Ability to follow detailed baking and food safety procedures
Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds frequently and heavier objects with assistance
Able to stand, bend, reach, push, and stoop as required
Comfortable working indoors with occasional exposure to temperature extremes from freezers and ovens
Able to use cleaning agents safely
Regular, predictable, full attendance
Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

Experience working in a bakery or customer service oriented environment preferred
Knowledge of bakery products preferred
At least 18 years of age

Job Duties

Answer questions and recommend bakery items
Answer Member calls and take special orders
Proof and bake all unfinished bakery goods by following each item's product handling information using ovens and/or other equipment
Use bakery production charts as a guide for production and display needs
Package freshly baked goods including cookies, Danish pastries, muffins, rolls, breads, pies, cakes, and other items as needed
Unpack bakery goods from the freezer and display proper amounts based on bakery production chart recommendations
Decorate special order or case product
Rotate and store bakery products following food safety, food freshness, and product handling policies and procedures
Receive, inspect, and store bakery shipments
Ensure all products are fresh and meet company quality standards
Check for out-of-date products daily and follow salvage and stale product policies and procedures
Generate labels and price tickets for bakery goods and perform price check functions when necessary
Ensure all items are accurately priced
Clean and sanitize equipment, display fixtures, and food surfaces in the bakery including ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, display racks, and tables
Operate and handle bakery equipment using proper work methods in accordance with safety policies and procedures
Maintain all club policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned including working in other departments as needed
Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance
