Job Requirements
- Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including night, weekends and holidays
- pushing and pulling approximately 100 lb of product on rack
- lift objects chest high up to 50 lbs
- conduct visual inspections and follow production guides, recipes and product labels
- catch breads and operate kitchen utensils and equipment
- maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers
- reach overhead to place product on racks
- stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods
- bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, perform repetitive movement and reach frequently
- handle bakery ingredients
- perform basic math including add, subtract, divide and multiply
- perform duties with mental alertness involving potential hazards
- respond to audible timers on baking equipment
- perform around equipment and product emitting heat approximately 465 degrees
- follow safety and sanitation procedures and department policies
- wear hats, hairnets, gloves and other personal protective equipment as required
- check labels and packaging of all manufactured products
- communicate effectively with customers and co-workers
- work in a team-oriented environment
- demonstrate knowledge of product content, perishability and regulations
- must be 18 years of age or older
- food handlers certification as per state laws
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous bakery experience is an asset
- ability to operate bakery equipment including ovens, proof box, mixers, and label machines
- strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- effective communication skills
- knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
- ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
- customer service orientation
- ability to manage multiple tasks with efficiency and accuracy
Job Duties
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service
- produce bakery products for retail stores
- operate and clean equipment and work area
- package all fresh products following all packaging/handling procedures
- ensure quality of goods by following code
- mix icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients
- dump icing or other toppings into large storage containers
- set-up cakes by taking liner off and putting icing between layers
- ice cakes by combining icing onto the cake, bordering, and placing specific decorations
- package cakes by placing in box
- label bakery items by inputting data into DiGi machine and placing a label on container
- display products on shelves using FIFO for rotation
- take orders by phone and in person from customers
- personalize cakes by writing desired words of the customer
- face merchandise
- engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
- display goods following packaging and handling procedures
- assist customers with inquiries about special orders
- ensure quality by following code dating and legal labeling regulations
- track inventory and production sheets
- produce breads and rolls by mixing recipes and operating machines
- clean work area using pressure hose and other tools
- produce croissants by folding by hand, proofing and baking
- open and close bakery according to company procedures
- perform other duties as assigned or needed
