The Bakery Clerk at El Super plays a vital role within the bakery department, working directly under the supervision of the Bakery Manager. The clerk is responsible for maintaining the bakery’s presentation by cleaning shelves, display cases, and self-serve displays, as well as rotating product to ensure freshness. General physical demands such as lifting, standing, walking, and kneeling are part of the daily responsibilities, reflecting the fast-paced atmosphere of a grocery store. Given the nature of the job, a Food Handler Card or equivalent certification is mandatory to ensure food safety and compliance with health standards. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food Handler Card or equivalent certification
- Ability to lift and move up to 60 pounds occasionally
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and product information
- Good communication skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, kneeling
- Willingness to work under supervision in a fast-paced grocery store environment
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read and comprehend product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group interactions
- Basic PC and Outlook skills (preferred)
- Retail management certificate (preferred)
Job Duties
- Provide friendly, courteous, and helpful service to customers in the bakery department
- Assist customers with bakery purchases and take special orders
- Clean shelves, display cases, and self-serve bakery displays
- Rotate bakery products to ensure freshness and quality
- Collaborate with the baker to identify items needing baking or decoration
- Maintain cleanliness of the bakery department including washing floors
