It requires being knowledgeable in maintaining food freshness, following sanitation procedures, and ensuring the work area is clean and well-organized. The role also involves managing transactions at the department registers when applicable and contributing to various operational tasks that enhance the department's efficiency. Additionally, the Bakery Clerk assists in ordering supplies, pricing products, delivering orders, and other duties as needed to support the store's daily operations. Job Requirements

less than high school education or equivalent experience
six months or less of similar or related work experience
ability to carry out simple written or verbal instructions
ability to do basic addition and subtraction
ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
ability to write identifying information
ability to request supplies orally or in writing
ability to perform medium physical work including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
visual acuity including clarity of vision, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision
ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
availability to work under pressure with multiple priorities

Job Duties

provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store
makes an effort to learn customers’ names and to address them by name whenever possible
assists customers by escorting them to products, securing items out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, making note of customer suggestions or requests, performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
reviews the status and appearance of the food for freshness
reviews orders for the day
takes customer orders at the bakery counter
works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures the work area is clean and neat
ensures adequate food supply is ready and available, follows production list
anticipates product needs daily
prepares, finishes, and replenishes product
pulls product from cooler/freezer to prepare for baking
checks in product, puts product away, may review invoices
runs department registers and processes payments when applicable
removes trash promptly
maintains strict adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
adheres to company policies and store guidelines
reports to work as scheduled and on time
