This position at Sprouts Farmers Market is for a part-time Bakery Clerk, a key role within the bakery department that involves preparing, baking, packaging, and merchandising baked goods such as cookies, bread, and muffins using proven, quality ingredients. The Bakery Clerk works closely with the Bakery Manager to ensure all bakery items are properly prepared and presented to maintain high standards of cleanliness and customer satisfaction. The Bakery Clerk is responsible for stock management, quality control, and adherence to safety, health, and regulatory standards, including maintaining a Food Handlers permit. Job Requirements

  • be able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • be physically capable of standing for long periods
  • be able to operate bakery equipment safely
  • maintain all safety and health regulations
  • obtain and maintain Food Handlers permit

Job Qualifications

  • physical ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously and transfer trays and items of varying weights
  • adhere to safety, health, and regulatory requirements and maintain a Food Handlers permit

Job Duties

  • assist the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising all baked goods
  • provide a high level of customer service
  • ensure bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented
  • maintain cleanliness of the bakery department area
  • maintain clean, safe, and sanitary bakery area and equipment including cleaning shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris, and sweeping
  • stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy
  • examine the rotation of bakery products and discard outdated or spoiled items
  • receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
  • answer phones and take special orders
  • perform general housekeeping and clean and sanitize work areas including tables, floors, walls, cases, cooler, and freezer
  • operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
  • adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
  • achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit
