Job Description
Bristol Farms is a distinguished supermarket chain that prides itself on delivering an exceptional shopping experience focused on fresh, high-quality ingredients, including locally sourced meat, seafood, and produce. Established initially in Rolling Hills, California, Bristol Farms has become a celebrated destination for culinary enthusiasts, or "curious foodies," who delight in discovering new and exciting ingredients while exploring the aisles. The company’s mission extends beyond providing groceries; Bristol Farms aims to cultivate a community passionate about cooking and sharing delicious food. This is achieved through a commitment to excellence in product selection and creating an inviting, interactive atmosphere for guests. Bristol Farms embraces a culture where team members are valued for providing extraordinary, warm, and engaging customer service, fostering a workplace that is both fun and challenging.
The role of Bakery Clerk at Bristol Farms in Santa Monica offers a unique opportunity to be an integral part of this vibrant food community. Positioned within the bakery department and reporting to the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk plays a pivotal role in ensuring customers receive service that consistently surpasses expectations. The Bakery Clerk is responsible for managing bakery products with comprehensive knowledge of prices, recipes, and uses, and for assisting customers by taking orders, performing suggestive selling, and packaging baked goods with care. This position requires both a passion for food and a dedication to hospitality, offering an environment that encourages enthusiasm, teamwork, and a positive "can-do" attitude.
Working as a Bakery Clerk means maintaining the bakery's high standards for cleanliness and product presentation. Duties include organizing merchandise to promote sales effectively, following the FIFO (First-in, First-out) product rotation system, and caring for bakery equipment and display areas. The role demands regular interaction with customers through both direct service on the floor and telephone order-taking, ensuring that every guest feels valued and attended to during their visit. The physical aspects of the job involve standing and walking for extended periods, handling bakery items, and occasionally lifting heavy products, which makes physical stamina and attention to detail important.
Bristol Farms values team members who exemplify warmth, authenticity, and genuine hospitality, qualities that contribute to a superior customer experience. The company fosters a values-driven culture committed to growth, development, and mutual respect. Benefits include a competitive hourly wage of $18 to $21, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, access to scholarship opportunities, employee discounts across Bristol Farms and Lazy Acres, and footwear credits to Shoes for Crews. Weekly paychecks and a strong training program support team member success and satisfaction. Bakers who join this team will enjoy a career that challenges and inspires while offering clear opportunities for personal and professional advancement within a family of brands.
