The Bakery Clerk position at Sprouts Farmers Market is a part-time role ideal for individuals who have a passion for baking and enjoy working in fast-paced, professional kitchen environments. As a Bakery Clerk, you will assist the Bakery Manager in multiple facets of bakery operations, including baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising. In addition to production duties, the Bakery Clerk is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and sanitation within the bakery department. This includes cleaning shelves and floors, removing hazardous debris, and sanitizing equipment to uphold health standards. Inventory management is also a key task, involving the stocking, facing, and pricing of bakery products while ensuring items are rotated properly and outdated products are discarded. You will also be responsible for receiving shipments, inspecting them for accuracy and temperature control, and logging the products to maintain quality control.

Job Requirements

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • have 1-2 years of bakery experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • dependable and reliable
  • able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • capable of standing for long periods
  • able to lift and transfer weights up to 40 lbs
  • hold a valid food handlers permit
  • follow safety, health, and weights and measures regulations
  • possess good communication skills
  • able to operate bakery equipment safely

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • assist the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising all baked goods
  • provide a high level of customer service and ensure bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented
  • maintain clean, safe, and sanitary bakery area and equipment including cleaning shelves, floors, and removing hazardous debris
  • stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy while examining rotation of bakery products and discarding outdated or spoiled items
  • receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
  • stand for up to 3 hours continuously, perform vertical and horizontal transferring of trays and items
  • answer phones and take special orders
