Job Requirements
- Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Reliable and predictable attendance
- Completion and maintenance of all required food and work safety trainings and certifications
- Adherence to work and food safety policies
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and use hands and wrists frequently throughout the shift
- Ability to work in varying temperature conditions including cooler and freezer environments
- Commitment to company values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion principles
- Ability to safely use bakery and store equipment
- Must be 21 years of age or older to participate in certain benefits programs
Job Qualifications
- Previous customer service, food service, retail, or grocery experience preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
- Skills to work independently, effectively manage own time, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with bakery products and ability to learn continuously
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to safely operate bakery tools and equipment
Job Duties
- Prepares bakery department for store opening and closing
- Assists customers with product selection
- Shares product knowledge with customers
- Prepares coffee and other beverages to customer and vendor specifications
- Prepares, wraps, weighs, tares, prices, and presents bakery department products
- Builds displays and arranges department products to make attractive presentations
- Stocks, rotates, and faces products with attention to product quality and expiration dates
- Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy
- Receives and unloads merchandise and communicates issues to management
- Maintains cleanliness, organization, and rotation of all areas and supplies
- Maintains accurate pricing and signage
- Completes customer special orders and provides follow-through
- Understands and complies with shift-specific guidelines, tasks, and responsibilities
- May participate in inventories and ordering
- Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays, and events
- Demonstrates familiarity with products in department
- Notifies management of any situations relating to customer service, safety, or security
- Uses bakery and store equipment safely and properly
