The Bakery Associate is responsible for ensuring that all bakery goods are fresh, properly rotated, attractively displayed, and well-stocked to meet customer demands at all times. Excellent customer service skills are crucial, as the associate is expected to interact positively with customers, provide product suggestions, respond to inquiries, and assist at the service counter with a warm and helpful demeanor.

Beyond customer interaction, the Bakery Associate will follow company standards and guidelines strictly, including Roche Bros. and Sudbury Farms policies for cake decorating and bakery product preparation. This includes tasks such as icing, decorating, traying, packaging, labeling, and pricing products for refrigerated display cases. The role requires the person to fill special customer orders which can range from standard bakery items to custom and wedding cakes, involving detailed preparation and occasionally assisting with delivery and setup.

Operational duties extend to handling bakery equipment safely and efficiently, such as mixers, ovens, slicers, and trays, while maintaining a clean and orderly workspace up to company sanitation expectations. Safety and sanitation are a top priority, and the associate will practice the Cleaner’s Creed and other sanitation protocols to ensure compliance and a safe environment.

Physically, this role demands the ability to perform multiple physical tasks including lifting, carrying, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, and reaching within cold and warm temperature conditions that reflect typical bakery environments. The candidate must be prepared for the physical demands of working with bakery products and equipment and maintaining a safe, hazard-free work area.
