Job Description
El Bolillo Bakery is a well-established Mexican bakery that began as a small local bakery in the Greater Heights area of Houston. Known for its hundreds of fresh pastries available daily and excellent customer service, the bakery has grown considerably since its inception. Due to an increase in business and popularity, the original small bakery had to relocate to a bigger building directly across the street to better serve its loyal customers. The bakery's growth momentum led to the opening of another location in the South side of Houston off S. Wayside. El Bolillo Bakery is proud to be an active member of the Houston East End Chamber of Commerce, signifying its deep-rooted involvement and commitment to the surrounding community. This bakery has become a household name within the Houston area, not only offering authentic Mexican baked goods but also contributing positively to the local economy and community activities.
The role offered at El Bolillo Bakery is both a full-time and part-time position for bakers interested in working in a dynamic and growing bakery environment. This job pays between $12 and $15 per hour, reflecting a commitment to fair compensation for employees. The position requires the baker to perform various baking tasks under supervision, including preparing traditional Mexican bread such as bolillo, conchas, cookies, and donuts. Additionally, the baker will be responsible for preparing baking ovens, using bakery equipment like mixers and fryers, and ensuring the bakery display is fully stocked with fresh products throughout the day. Maintaining cleanliness and safety in the work area is a top priority, alongside strict adherence to health standards.
The bakery provides a vibrant work setting with flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, which is ideal for individuals needing adaptable working hours. The job offers continuous paid training opportunities to keep skills sharp and knowledge current in bakery operations. El Bolillo Bakery values its employees by offering important benefits such as health, dental, vision, and life insurance. This ensures the workforce feels supported both on and off the job. The physical nature of the job demands the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the capacity to stand for extended periods, as well as flexibility in posture to kneel, bend, and stoop. This bakery position suits someone who has basic knowledge of Mexican bread varieties, is conversant in both English and Spanish, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Overall, this is an excellent opportunity for anyone passionate about baking and eager to work in a culturally rich, community-focused bakery setting.
