The Baker role within the Bakery Department is a vital position at Bristol Farms, reporting directly to the Bakery Manager. Bakers contribute to delivering the highest quality bakery products by adhering to production schedules, maintaining strict quality and sanitation standards as per FDA and local health codes, and ensuring product availability through proper rotation techniques. The position demands individuals capable of not only preparing excellent products but also providing outstanding customer service that exceeds guest expectations through warmth, knowledge, and engagement.

Bakers at Bristol Farms are responsible for managing costs by applying portion control and accurate pricing, maintaining the bakery environment’s safety standards, and assisting in receiving and storing bakery inventory. The role requires a hands-on approach and teamwork to ensure operational success and exceptional guest experience.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED with 3 to 6 months of related experience. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting heavy loads up to 100 pounds occasionally, and performing various movements such as stooping and reaching. Candidates must possess close and color vision abilities to successfully perform job functions.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three to six months of related experience
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms occasionally
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally
  • Specific vision abilities including close and color vision
  • Willingness to adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines

Job Duties

  • Prepares bakery products according to the Bakery Manager's directions, production guide, and the established production schedule
  • maintains product rotation to reduce shrink
  • Inspects and maintains the Bakery Department and products during baking and preparation, ensuring quality and sanitation by FDA and local health codes
  • Assists customers, suggests bakery products, and establishes relationships for repeat business
  • Controls costs by implementing portion control, accurate pricing, and signage
  • Follows safety work standards and reports any hazards to the Bakery Manager and/or Store Director
  • Follows the FIFO rotation system, covers, labels, and dates products, ensuring adherence to BFLA standards of quality and presentation
  • Assists in receiving, breaking down, and storing Bakery loads, collaborating effectively with the team
