The Bakery Team Member role at BJ's Wholesale Club is integral to the success and satisfaction of its members. This position involves proofing and baking unfinished bakery goods according to specific product handling and production guidelines using ovens and other bakery equipment. The role requires unpacking frozen bakery goods, displaying them properly, and maintaining the bakery's cleanliness and safety standards. Team members take pride in accurate product handling, ensuring freshness and quality, and supporting daily bakery operations including packaging, decorating special orders, rotating inventory, and managing shipments. The ideal candidate will be at least 18 years of age and have experience or an interest in bakery products or customer service environments. This role demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and work in varying temperature conditions. Job Requirements

At least 18 years of age
ability to move about non hard surfaces and occasionally bend, handle, pull, reach, push and stoop
frequently lift objects up to 30 pounds
ability to lift and move heavy or awkward objects greater than 30 pounds with assistance
work in indoor environment with frequent temperature exposure from freezers, ovens and coolers
frequent exposure to cleaning agents
reliable attendance
strong customer service orientation
ability to follow safety and cleaning standards

Job Qualifications

Experience working in a bakery or customer service oriented environment preferred
knowledge of bakery products preferred
at least 18 years of age

Job Duties

Answer questions and recommend bakery items
answer member calls and take special orders
proof and bake all unfinished bakery goods following product handling information using ovens and other equipment
use bakery production charts for production and display needs
package freshly baked goods including cookies, Danish pastries, muffins, rolls, breads, pies, cakes, and others
unpack bakery goods from the freezer and display proper amounts
decorate special order or case products
rotate and store bakery products following food safety, freshness and product handling policies
receive, inspect, and store bakery shipments
ensure all products are fresh and meet quality standards
check for out-of-date products daily and follow salvage and stale product policies
generate labels and price tickets for bakery goods and perform price checks when necessary
clean and sanitize equipment, display fixtures, and food surfaces in the bakery
operate bakery equipment safely following policies and procedures
maintain all club policies and procedures
perform other duties as assigned including working in other departments as needed
maintain regular, predictable, full attendance
