The position of Assistant Bakery Manager at Bristol Farms is a vital leadership role within the bakery department. Reporting directly to the Bakery Manager, this role requires an individual with strong leadership abilities, exceptional customer service skills, and a passion for quality and freshness. The Assistant Bakery Manager is entrusted with supporting the Bakery Manager by overseeing the daily operations of the bakery section, coordinating employee activities, and ensuring adherence to company standards concerning product quality, sanitation, and safety compliance. This position plays a critical role in training and developing bakery staff, implementing merchandising programs, and maintaining inventory control measures to prevent product loss and shrink. Job Requirements

  • Three to six months related experience
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, memos, orders, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and schedules

Job Duties

  • Assist in development of bakery department by coordinating activities of all employees engaged in bakery product sales and processing in absence of bakery manager
  • Lead by example and model correct behavior and adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Train and develop employees to assure freshness, quality, customer service, and sanitation
  • Ensure proper training on weighing, slicing, cutting, and serving bakery goods
  • Train employees regularly in suggestive selling, merchandising techniques, and customer service skills
  • Assist Bakery Manager with ordering, receiving products, and proper invoice routing
  • Implement and execute all merchandising programs
  • Set up advertising displays and arrange merchandise to promote sales
  • Observe employee work habits and provide feedback to ensure consistency in bakery policies and procedures
  • Maintain bakery department compliance with California Weights and Measures mandates and train employees accordingly
  • Monitor price integrity standards including accurate pricing, signage, and posted weights
  • Package, display, and merchandise all bakery goods per company standards
  • Maintain health codes and sanitation standards
  • Understand proper usage of authorized cleaning chemicals
  • Follow FIFO rotation system to maintain freshness and reduce shrink
  • Cover, label, and date leftover products and utilize before opening new product
  • Inspect items during baking processes to maintain quality and sanitation
  • Inspect finished bakery products for quality, weight, and presentation standards
  • Follow safety work standards and report hazards
  • Document safety training and report accidents per Cal OSHA
  • Focus on inventory control including theft, shrink, and storage
  • Bake products as needed
  • Assist with receiving, breakdown, and storage of bakery products
  • Maintain cleanliness of bakery department
  • Manage bakery logbook materials
  • Communicate with Bakery Manager and Store Director on department issues
  • Use management tools as provided
  • Assist with weekly work schedule preparation
  • Manage cost control by managing overtime and supply costs
  • Assist customers with orders and suggestive selling techniques
  • Provide extraordinary customer service that exceeds expectations
  • Address customer complaints professionally
  • Enforce employee handbook policies on service standards and appearance
  • Meet and exceed BFLA standards in service, quality, freshness, and cleanliness
